MISSION (NEWS 1130) — A man who allegedly killed another man and set fire to a building in Mission this summer has been arrested and charged with several crimes, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
In the early hours of Aug. 8 firefighters put out the fire and later found human remains in the building and IHIT was called to the property on Gunn Avenue, according to police.

Investigators have since identified the victim as 64-year-old Vien Ngoc Bui.
IHIT said Van Chau Nguyen, 60, has been charged with first-degree murder, arson, forceful confinement, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
According to police, “the two men knew each other.”
“This was a highly involved investigation that began with a very challenging crime scene,” IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Frank Jang said in a statement. “For nearly two months, our investigative team worked incredibly hard with the assistance of several of our regional police partners. IHIT is grateful for their contributions.”
Nguyen is set to appear in court on Friday, IHIT said.
