MISSION (NEWS 1130) – A 43-year-old man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the death of a mother inside her home in Mission.
Walter Ramsey was arrested shortly after 33-year-old Eleanor Anthonysz’s body was found in a burned out trailer in the Green Acres mobile home park last April.
Ramsey was Anthonysz’s ex-boyfriend and Sergeant Stephanie Ashton says he was immediately a suspect. “At the time… he was located at another residence and taken into custody. He was initially charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder as well as one count of arson.”
Witnesses told investigators two children ran from the burning trailer with their hands tied.
“This was a tragedy that affected the entire community of Mission with lasting effect on Eleanor’s family. We are greatly appreciative of the work of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team for all the work they have done to arrive at this outcome. It is our sincere hope that this will bring some closure to Eleanor’s family,” says Inspector Ted De Jager, Officer in Charge of the Mission detachment.
Ramsey will receive an automatic life sentence with parole eligibility to be determined later.
