MISSION (NEWS 1130) – Nine more charges of aggravated sexual assault have been approved against a Mission man who’s accused of failing to disclose his HIV-positive status to sex partners.
Forty-seven-year-old Brian Carlisle was already charged with three counts and now Mounties say there may be more victims out there.
Constable James Mason says several more victims came forward after they initially went public with the case last month. “By doing another [press] release, we’re letting people know that the tip-line is being used and hopefully they give more confidence to those who may want to call in but were hesitant at first.”
Mason adds investigators have been in contact with Carlisle and they continue to encourage possible victims to see a doctor.
Carlisle made a court appearance last month when he was released with a number of conditions. They include not accessing or utilizing any social networking or online dating websites, advising any person he is intending to have sexual intercourse with of his HIV status, and wearing a condom during sexual intercourse.
Carlisle is accused of offences in Mission, Abbotsford, Coquitlam and Burnaby, but he has also lived around the Lower Mainland, Ontario, Manitoba, and New Brunswick and the United States.
The RCMP say they are disclosing Carlisle’s HIV status because the public interest outweighs his privacy. He’s described as white, about 220 pounds, 6’2″ with blue eyes and short brown hair.
