UPDATE: Michael Douglas Sheets has been recaptured.
MISSION (NEWS 1130) – A man serving time for manslaughter is at large after escaping from the minimum security unit at Mission Institution.
Correctional Service Canada says staff noticed 48-year-old Micheal Douglas Sheets was missing during the 7:00 p.m. count on Saturday. RCMP was contacted and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
Sheets is 5’6″ tall and weighs 141 lbs. He has a fair complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair. CSC says he may be using the name John Hala.
He is currently serving a sentence of 14 years and 6 months for manslaughter, arson, escape, and other offences.
Anyone with information on where Sheets is, is asked to call police.
