MISSION (NEWS 1130) – Crews are working 16-hour shifts as they scramble to fix the Dewdney Bridge east of Mission.
A steel cap supporting the deck was damaged, causing it to buckle yesterday morning. The deck dipped by 10 inches.
Workers will be jacking the bridge up and fixing the cap, which should only take a couple of days.
The bridge is still closed until repairs are finished.
The province says there is no risk of the bridge collapsing, nor is it a concern to public safety.
