RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Two people have been sent to the hospital with serious injuries after the car they were in ended up in a ditch along Number 6 Road near Blundell Road.

The crash happened just after midnight, and footage from the scene shows one of the victims receiving CPR.

Mounties say they responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a hydro pole.

“Significant efforts by emergency personnel were required to extricate two occupants from an overturned Honda sedan located in a ditch off road near the intersection,” a release from the Richmond RCMP reads.

The driver — a 21-year-old woman from Surrey — is said to have suffered critical injuries, while the passenger was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The crash caused power outages throughout the area.

The RCMP is looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have any information about it.

Mounties say both alcohol and speed are being considered factors in this crash.

Late night crash in Mission

Meantime, investigators in Mission are trying to figure out what caused a three-vehicle crash that shut down the Lougheed Highway for several hours Sunday night.

Three people were taken to the hospital in this incident, all with minor injuries.

More to come.
