MISSION (NEWS 1130) – The body of a middle-aged man has been found in a car that went off the road in Mission, and ended up going about 100-meters down an embankment.
Crews spent Tuesday evening trying to get the vehicle out of the embankment, which is located at Dewdney Trunk Road near Stave Falls Dam.
Corporal Patrick Mehain is with the Mission RCMP.
He says police aren’t sure when the car went off the road, adding it had been in the embankment at least for a couple of days and the vehicle was only found this morning.
“The vehicle was discovered this morning, we have confirmed one person deceased. We believe it was just a single offroad,” he says. “We are not sure the total time on it, so we are not sure if it was during the super heavy rains or what time it occurred at night.”
Mehain says it’s early in the investigation, and it’s not known if speed or alcohol were factors.
However, the death is not considered suspicious.
